Practical Implementation of Urban Policy for Pedestrians

🎳 As previously noted, Tashkent is consistently moving towards creating a comfortable and safe urban environment, considering the interests of pedestrians, ease of movement, and quality of life of the population as priorities.

🚸One of the practical steps in this direction is the creation of a modern and orderly system of surface parking lots outside the roadway. This will make it possible to free sidewalks, pedestrian crossings, and streets from chaotically parked cars.

➡️As a result, free and safe sidewalks will appear for pedestrians, including people with special needs. Drivers will have a clear system for placing vehicles, will be able to find free spaces faster without creating additional congestion.

🅿️Digitalization of parking infrastructure will allow seeing available spaces in advance, choosing a convenient route, and knowing where to leave the car to continue the journey on foot or by public transport. As a result, movement around the city will become more understandable and organized.

📈The investor’s interest in the project confirms that business trusts the city’s chosen approach and realizes that modern parking infrastructure has already become an integral part of the capital’s development.

📈The project is being implemented on the basis of public-private partnership. The right to conclude the relevant agreement was provided for the first time through an open electronic auction. The starting price of the lot was 1.3 billion soums. During the trading, the price was increased 293 times and reached 20.9 billion soums — almost 16 times higher than the starting price.

✅The winner of the auction is the foreign enterprise “ANGLESEY FOOD” LLC. The amount offered by the investor is considered a one-time payment. In the future, annual rent and contributions to the Tashkent City Development Fund will be added to it.

🚶Thus, it is not just about creating parking spaces for cars. This is the practical implementation of urban policy for pedestrians, where cars occupy orderly places, and streets and sidewalks are returned to people.
